Sun Ray Shadow-Goat Hair

The Sun Ray Shadow is one of the most straightforward salmon flies but its simplicity belies its extraordinary effectiveness.   It can be fished at any stage of the season either normally or hitched.  Two pinholes on either side of the body allow it to be skated across the pool making otherwise docile salmon attack it with annoyance.  Probably the best ‘fish locator’ in the fly box.

This is an excellent early season or high water version of the Sunray Shadow.  Tied with more body and a signature white fox underwing if you want to fish slightly deeper than a standard plastic bodied Sunray Shadow you can use this fly with absolute confidence.
